Several major museums in Copenhagen offer free admission. Here are a few recommendations:

The Danish National Museum traces the history of Denmark back 10,000 years through archaeological artifacts, interiors, furnishings, clothing and religious art over the centuries. In July, August and September there are free tours in English on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 11 a.m. The Museum of Danish Resistance follows the story of civilian resistance during the Second World War. The Open Air Museum in Lyngby is a collection of characteristic, historic farmhouses from all over the country.

Danish Music Museum
A comprehensive collection of muscial instruments from all over the world, including curiosities such as the amoeba-shaped violin and the giraffe-piano, and permanent exhibitions of ingenious creations by Danish instrument-makers. Located near the gardens of Rosenborg Castle. Admission is free year-round.
