Does Copenhagen have a central shopping district?

Copenhagen’s main shopping areas are on and around Strøget, Europe's longest pedestrian shopping street. The entrance to Strøget is a 30-minute walk from Langelinie Pier and a one-hour walk from Freeport Terminal. Strøget runs from Kongens Nytorv square to Rådhuspladsen (Town Hall Square), about 1 mile.

To reach Strøget by public transportation from the Langelinie Pier, take local bus number 26, which departs every 20 minutes to Strøget.

You can also go by waterbus, which departs from the polar bear statue at the end of the pier. The waterbus will also take you to Fisketorvet, a large mall with shops, restaurants, and movie theaters.

From Freeport Terminal to Strøget, shuttle buses are usually available. (See sections on how to get to the city center from Langelinie Pier and Freeport Terminal.)

Shop opening hours (may vary):

Monday-Thursday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Friday 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Saturday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Sunday closed

Some of the large department stores have extended opening hours, and some are open on Sundays, especially during the cruise season (May-September).

The shopping promenade at Langelinie Pier is open every day, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
