Copenhagen has received three new stars in Guide Michelin 2008. One star goes to three new restaurants, which means Copenhagen now boasts a total of 12 stars and 11 Michelin-starred restaurants. The Danish capital is thus the Nordic city with most star restaurants.
The three restaurants Geranium, Kiin Kiin and Paustian at Bo Bech have gotten themselves into very good company. They have each received one Michelin star in Guide Michelin Main Cities of Europe 2008, which has just hit the streets. The star indicates a very good restaurant in its category. With the restaurants Ensemble, Kongs Hans Kælder, Formel B, Era Ora, The Paul, MR, Søllerød Kro and Noma, Copenhagen now boasts 12 Michelin stars divided amongst 11 restaurants. Noma is still the only restaurant in Denmark with two stars, which indicate that it is worth taking a detour for.
Gastronomic capital
Copenhagen is thus the Nordic city with most Michelin-starred restaurants, while Stockholm comes in second with seven star restaurants. Guide Michelin offers a choice of luxurious and good restaurants and hotels. Every year its inspectors secretly visit restaurants and hotels across the world. They pay for their own food and stay - in order to maintain Guide Michelin's independency, and to receive the same service as ordinary guests.
In addition, the restaurants Le Sommelier, Kanalen, Oubaek, Famo, L'Altro and Luns has been given a Bib Gourmand honour, which is given to restaurants with good food at affordable prices.
