The Deer Park north of Copenhagen
Try a restful ride in a horse and carriage through Dyrehaven (The Deer Park) just north of Copenhagen. All you hear is the gentle breeze in the tree tops and the clipety-clop og the horse's hooves.
Just by the Klampenborg S-train Station, a mere 20 minutes train ride from the Central Station, is the carriage stand of the horse carriages. From here the ride goes through the Deer Park; you can lean back and gaze up into the branches of the hundred-year-old trees, watch the grazing deer or be overtaken by passing joggers out for some excersize.
Eremitage Hunting Lodge
The ride goes up towards the former royal hunting lodge called the Eremitagen (derived from the word hermit). It was constructed in 1734-36 and is a fine example of late Baroque architecture. Normally the trip takes about 45 minutes, depending on how long a stop you wish to make by the lodge, which can only be seen from the outside.
You can also choose a short ride (ab. 10 minutes) from the carriage stand to the Restaurant Peter Lieb.
Booking
During the summer months from early April to mid-September, when Bakken, the amusement park, is open, no beforehand bookings are necessary. Out of the season it is always a good idea to make sure to have a carriage waiting. You can contact the carriage stand by phone from 10am to 4pm: +45 39 63 98 92 . In case of a group booking there are two numbers: Mr. Klaus Rasmussen on +45 39 63 74 25 or Mr. Laurtiz Nældemann on +45 40 46 48 49.
