Press release from Tivoli Gardens:
Many cruise guests have visited Tivoli over the years, either on their own or with various operators. Through our local partners and agents, we have now put together a portfolio of products aimed at the cruise market. All tours include admission to Tivoli.
Guests will be able to visit either Amalienborg Castle, home of the Danish Royal Family or Christiansborg, where the Danish parliament resides, go on a boat ride in the Copenhagen canals and see Nyhavn, where Hans Christian Andersen lived.
"Our ambition has been to present the soul of Copenhagen in a fun and easy way , the Tivoli way, so that our guests will feel, that they have seen and experienced Copenhagen, even if they have only spent a day here," says Tivoli’s CEO, Lars Liebst.
VIP Cruise Show
To give cruise guests a taste of one of Tivoli’s finest old traditions, a show has been put together specifically. Tivoli’s ballet company at the Pantomime Theatre usually perform the age-old harlequinades known as pantomimes.
In the summer of 2011 a special show has been put together telling the story about both Tivoli and Hans Christian Andersen as well as of Queen Margrethe of Denmark, who by the way, occasionally works as a set and costume designer for the company.
Tivoli Gardens
Denmark’s leading attraction, the Tivoli Gardens, was founded in 1843 and has been a favourite pass-time for Danes and tourists alike ever since. The gardens offer a unique mix of entertainment, rides and dining options set in historic surroundings with pretty gardens and spectacular architecture.
The charming amusement park is not only one of the oldest in the world and one of Europe’s most visited, but also a ‘green oasis’ in more than one sense. The park buys electricity from sustainable sources and also features a unique re-cycling system for plastic cups saving the park 10 tons of waste every year.
Tivoli is listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange and has just under 4 million visitors per year. It is the first time Tivoli attends the CSM Cruise Shipping Miami.
