World's best Copenhagen

World's best Copenhagen

14 Mar 2011

In 2011 Copenhagen has been seen to achieve the accolades of the world's best chef and the world's best restaurant, while Danish Film Director Susanne Bier has also just won an Oscar in the category the world's best foreign movie, for In a Better World. That’s what Copenhagen seems to be about these days - and there is much more to come.

Seasoned visitors to Copenhagen have known it for years, however, the fact that the last Michelin Guide awarded thirteen stars - more than Rome, Milan, Amsterdam and Vienna - to the City's restaurants, has confirmed that: Copenhagen continues as the number one food-lover's destination in Scandinavia.

World’s best cuisine and foreign movie 2011

Those who keep up with the world press will have noticed that Denmark now officially has the world’s best restaurant, Noma in Copenhagen.

In February the world’s best chef accolade was awarded to Rasmus Kofoed, announced at the Bocuse d’Or in France; and in February the Danish Film Director, Susanne Bier, won an Oscar for her movie In a Better World.

Danish summer buzzes of Bike World Championships

The summer of 2011 will be particularly special with as many as three World Championships taking place in Copenhagen: Kicking off with the underground BMX Wolds Championship in August, passing on to the handicap para-cycling championship in September and the World championship in Road Cycling later in September.

The Danes won’t just settle with this though – there will be lots of bike events and bike festivals beside in the streets for everyone to enjoy, because Danes love the laid back bike culture. You can find the awarded film: WE LOVE BIKES on Youtube.com

Culture, sights and safety

Denmark is an old monarchy with plenty of beautiful, historic castles – among them the Royal Castles in Copenhagen and Hamlet's Castle, Kronborg, in the port of Elsinore.

Hamlet and Hans Christian Andersen’s famous tales merge with the ancient spirit of the Danish Vikings, Danish Design and modern museums, which give all visitors to Denmark a rush of new and ancient European history. And yet it is also a cool, contemporary, calm and safe place to walk around for both guests and inhabitants.
