A recent phenomenon in the Copenhagen nightlife is the growing popularity of specialized bars, in particular beer and cocktail bars.

Fusion drinks

Oak Room in Egegade is one of the hot, new cocktail bars.  Classic cocktails are mixed in new exciting ways - try a Mango Mojito or a Slutty Mary - but remember to order a large glass of water to accompany it!  Boutique Lize in the district of Vesterbro specializes in martinis and ice teas.

Home-brewed beer

Fadøl, Thomas NykrogIn less than five-six years, Denmark has gone from being the country in Europe with the fewest breweries to being the country with most breweries per capita!  Many of these micro breweries are found in Copenhagen.

  • Nørrebro Bryghus is located in an old metalworks from 1857. The vast copper tanks, where the beer is brewed, are visible on the premises.
  • Bryggeriet Apollo, just next to the main entrance to Tivoli, has been brewing its own beer since 1990. The production of a monthly special is served in extraordinarily shaped beer glasses.
  • Færgekroen in Tivoli will be serving two hand-brewed beers to their happily sing-along crowd of guests.
  • Carlsberg, the giant, has joined the trend and opened a micro brewery in connection with their visitors centre on Gammel Carlsbergvej. The Semper Ardens range of beers are recommended by a number of top chefs as ideal for baking, marinading and cooking - apart from the pure pleasure of drinking it, of course!

Many pubs offer special brews - all waiting for you to go beer cruising.....
