You can also see the world's largest collection of bottles.

The Jacobsen House Brewery has been installed in one of Gammel (Old) Carlsberg's buildings from 1878 in Valby.  It is an integrated part of the Carlsberg Visitors' Centre. Here the more than 150.000 annual guests get to follow the daily production from start to finish and sample the result.

Esrum Kloster
At the Esrum Monastery in North Sealand you will find a small bottle which bears witness to the fact that there has been a considerable local production of beer in the Middle Ages. Today in colaboration with the Brøckhouse Brewery, Esrum has developed a special monastery beer.
Esrum Kloster - sommer

According to rules in the Order of the Cistercians, monasteries should be placed "far from human traffic, and always near water" and this is still visible at Esrum Monastery.  It has been a place where meditation and absorption predominated.  The blend of buildings and surrounding countryside are important.

In the remaining buildings of the Medieval monastery there is a permanent exhibition showing the life of the monks.. "The Cistercians at Esrum Monastery" and in the beautiful monastery garden you can see a number of interesting Medieval medical herbs and plants.  Several of these were used in the production of the monastery beer - to mention some: lemon balm, rosemary, juniper, meadowsweet, lavender and anise.

In the beautiful vaulted monastery cellar the Broder Rus Restaurant is found.  Here you can take a break and enjoy the authentic Medieval menus - many of the dishes are based on beer.  Apart from the Esrum Monastery Beer, the restaurant can offer Belgian Trappist beer as well.  During the year there are beer lectures and courses in beer brewing.
