Accommodation in the heart of Copenhagen does not have to cost a fortune. Here are a couple of surprisingly cheap quality hostels.
Copenhagen Downtown
Copenhagen Downtown is a new hostel, which opened in May 2008, right in the historic heart of Copenhagen, a few minutes walk from Tivoli Gardens, the Central Station and Christiansborg Palace. The owners value culture, art and atmosphere rather than room service and expensive rooms. The place has six different types of rooms according to comfort and needs. You can get a single bed in an eight-bed room from DKK 165 with private bath in the hallway. If you are visiting Copenhagen with your family, you can book a four-bed room from DKK 650 per night, and if you want affordable luxury you can stay in a double room with private bath from DKK 599. Bring sheets and towels if you do not want to rent it at the youth hostel for DKK 60.
Danhostel Copenhagen City
Danhostel Copenhagen City is a cheap option if you want to stay in the heart of Copenhagen. The hostel is located in a tall building overlooking the city and Copenhagen Harbour, a few minutes walk from Tivoli and City Hall. With 1,020 beds and 192 rooms, it is Europe's biggest youth hostel. The Danish design company GUBI, which has supplied furniture to the Museum of Modern Art in New York, is behind the interior design in all rooms and living areas. If you opt for the cheapest rate, you get to sleep in the company of up to 10 other guests for DKK 180 per person. If you are several people traveling together, you can book a four-bed room for DKK 720. All rooms have shower and toilet. Also a meal in the restaurant is just DKK 75 per person, and the 'all you can eat' breakfast buffet is only DKK 65.
Copenhagen Airport Hostel
The owner calls it the most homely youth hostel you will ever visit, but judge for yourself. If you are looking for cheap accomodation close to Copenhagen Airport, why not stay in this large villa? 25 minutes walk from the airport or a DKK 75 taxi ride, in homely surroundings, you can stay for EUR 15 per night. Bring your own linen or rent it for EUR 7.
