Inexpensive things to do

Experience Copenhagen without money in your pocket. Here are three inexpensive things to do.

VinylpladeClub night at Ideal Bar

There are nights for everyone at Ideal Bar in the Copenhagen district Vesterbro. Ideal Bar is the venue VEGA's lounge bar at street level. Every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening has its own theme, each with its own host or club, and entrance is completely free. Try for example Club Mini Vega, which offers acoustic music with both familiar and lesser-known artists on the first Wednesday of each month at 20:00. Each Thursday presents The Hip Hip Office, and Friday the DJ club Crunchy Frog invites friends with the best record collections to play. Saturday night Funkatek plays Latin grooves.

Larm Galleri ValbyCopenhagen's art galleries

If you are into art, take a tour of Copenhagen's many art galleries. It is completely free, and if you want to feel more exclusive, be sure to come to the exhibition previews. Here, you get to see the art before everyone else and enjoy a glass of wine and a little snack. Most galleries in the inner city have previews on Fridays from 17:00. An exception is the new, hip gallery, Larm Galleri, in the Copenhagen district Valby, where you can visit no less than five galleries at once. The gallery, which is located in an old cardboard box factory, has previews on Thursdays.

Christiania, de tre prikkerVisit free town Christiania

Free town Christiania is free in every way. It was founded in 1971 when a group of hippies took over an area of abandoned military barracks and developed their own set of rules, completely independent of the Danish government. A visit is a unique experience that you should not miss. Everywhere you go, there are sculptures, paintings and wall murals. All the houses are 'homemade' and therefore very different and interesting in their own way.
