The Library Garden
The Royal Library's garden is a small oasis in the heart of Copenhagen, situated behind the Royal Library, also known as The Black Diamond. The large trees in the garden provide shadow on a warm summer day. Sit down and relax, admire the flowers and the water sculpture in the centre, which sprays water from time to time. The sculpture portrays the Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard. Some say that he looks to a place behind the red walls where his lost love and fiancé Regine Olsen lived.

The Small Gardens in Pile Allé
"The Small Gardens in Pile Allé" in the district of Frederiksberg is Danish idyll at its best. The gardens consist of three small family restaurants, serving traditional Danish food, open-faced sandwiches, beer and schnapps. Hansens is the oldest of the three and also the quietest one, where Petersens and Krøgers offer dancing and live music on selected dates. Grab some lunch and go for a stroll in the nearby Frederiksberg Park afterwards.

Row, row, row your boat...
Although taken from an old nursery rhyme, it can be very romantic to rent a boat and take your loved one out on the lake, where it is just the two of you. It requires that you can row or paddle of course. But if you have those skills, there are plenty of places in and around Copenhagen, where you can rent a boat. If you do not want to steer, you can also go on an organised cruise.
